What was the first Louis Vuitton Neverfull Edition?
In 2007 the fashion house launched the Neverfull, the most favorite daily hobo bag from Louis Vuitton. Its first limited edition was presented just a while after that, created for Takashi Murakami exhibit at the Los Angeles MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art).
Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton's creative director, invited a Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami to collaborate with the brand in the beginning of 2000s. Murakami was the one who created the renowned Multicolor line and Cerises, Cherry Blossom collection.
In 2007 Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art launched a special Murakami exhibit with a pop-up store for Louis Vuitton limited edition items created specifically for this event. Each item was only available in hundreds of pieces.
The MOCA limited edition Neverfull includes a re-introduction of the Louis Vuitton ‘Hands’ symbol on the front of the monogram canvas Neverfull bag. The MOCA Neverfull was released in PM, MM, and GM sizes. In addition, Murakami has also introduced a new character called ‘Chibi Kinoko’ which means 'little mushroom'.
The top opens to a pink fabric interior with a hanging zipped pocket. Every bag with a pink interior seems to be a hit, however, this limited edition is not very popular. Probably that's only due to its low availability.
