I fell for Metis when it was first released in 2014 and personally I feel like all the purses I like are kind of similar to Metis. 6. Louis Vuitton Monceau BB

Monceau is a classic vintage Pochette Metis.

Just as Metis, Monceau features an exterior S-lock, the classic satchel shape and a crossbody strap. Monceau BB is much smaller than the Pochette Metis so if you’re looking for an even cuter version of this purse, you’ve got it! Though this nice little purse can only fit the essentials like a small wallet and a key holder, it’s perfect for every day.

The downside of using this specific purse is that you’ll have to be very careful with the leather as it’s susceptible to marks that can’t be removed. The flap is rigid on the vernis version so if that’s important, first examine this bag in person at a luxury consignment store.

Monceu BB was released in a variety of colors so you can find it in any color you like, either in epi or vernis leather. Check out the Monceau we have in stock in Lilas color, one of the cutest colors ever.

This purse is discontinued so great news -  this purchase won’t hurt your wallet. It’s even cheaper than an iPhone, generally ranging from $599 to $1100 for perfect condition.

Bottom-line: Monceau is great for you if you’re looking for a smaller version of Pochette Metis in a nice color not typical for Metis.

5. Louis Vuitton Saint Germain PM

Are you a lover of Empreinte leather just like me? Great, cause here’s another handbag from Louis Vuitton, a Saint Germain. 

Saint Germain’s S-lock and front flap remind Pochette Metis curves. It has less space inside though, it’s only one large compartment and no zip pocket on the back of the purse. Another important difference is a chain instead of an adjustable strap, this can be an advantage or a disadvantage based on your preference.

Bottom-line: If you love chain purses and Empreinte leather, St. Germain is the closest Metis’ relative.

4. Louis Vuitton Saint Germain MM

Now if you didn’t like Saint Germain PM only due to its relatively small size, here’s a larger version of this handbag, the MM.

There’s so much space inside, it can fit an iPad and overall the inside is very convenient. As its PM sister, it doesn’t have any compartments but to me that’s often an advantage (incidentally, I have to carry larger items like books).

Empreinte leather is lightweight so it’s very convenient to carry it on the shoulder. I also love the fact that a part of the chain strap is leather so that the strap wouldn’t hurt the shoulder.

All Saint Germain handbags will develop a transformation of the flap. It’ll show some leather waves. If this doesn’t bother you, then take a closer look at this purse. It doesn’t look bad and I guess you can stuff the purse to make it less visible.

Louis Vuitton Saint Germain MM is a discontinued item that can only be found preloved. We have one in stock for $1999.

3. Saint Laurent (YSL) Envelope Large

YSL Large Envelope bag is an epitome of style. It’s a sleek stylish shoulder bag that looks great with pencil dresses and blazers. It can also be a crossbody though it looks a little strange this way.

As you can see, YSL Large Envelope is very much like the Louis Vuitton Saint Germain. As its medium companion, Large Envelope is rigid and very structured.

When I first checked out this purse at YSL, I was impressed by its caviar quality. However, later when we got one in stock, I felt a little disappointed as this caviar is easily rubbed. The hardware will also fade with time.

This is a current design and the retail price is $2,650. However, at Bagaholic you can find a beautiful blue YSL large Envelope bag for less than $2,000 in almost perfect condition.

2. Saint Laurent (YSL) Envelope Medium

Ever since this handbag was released, I’ve been dreaming about this purse and there’s only one thing stopping me. I already had Pochette Metis and I didn’t want to purchase another bag in the same design and similar size.

I’d say YSL Envelope reminds more of Louis Vuitton Saint Germain PM as it also has a chain strap, the shape is identical and there’s also only one compartment inside. However, this YSL purse is more structured in person than St. Germain. The front magnetic lock is so strong it’s sometimes inconvenient to open the purse.

As to wear and tear, this purse is identical to its Large envelope sister.

This is a current design and the retail price is $2,250. At Bagaholic, we have this YSL Silver Caviar Medium Envelope in almost new condition for only $1599.

1. Louis Vuitton MyLockMe

MyLockme feels like a twin sister to Pochette Metis. Everything about this purse looks just the same: the front flap, three inside compartments, a zipped pocket on the back. It’s a little bit larger though. I had mixed feelings about this purse at first, however, currently I feel that it’s a great option for me.

There are 2 major disadvantages about this purse when you compare it to Pochette Metis. First, it’s more expensive. While Pochette Metis is $2,420 (the empreinte version), MyLockme is $3,250. Can’t say that the size difference is worth about $1,000.

Both are current designs though and MyLockme is much easier to get from the store than the always-out-of-stock Metis.

However, if you like Metis but don’t want to be just like everybody else, MyLockme is the best Pochette Metis alternative. At Bagaholic, we have this beautiful purse in stock in great condition for only $1999. It’s also available on payment plan with only $500 deposit and $50 weekly payment.

So Which Is the Best Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis Alternative?

If you ask me, after a thorough inspection, I feel like Louis Vuitton Mylockme is the best alternative. It’s the same shape, it’s a little more spacious and lightweight (about the same or even a little more lightweight than Metis). However, considering I already have a Metis, I’ll most probably leave Louis Vuitton Saint Germain in my collection to have a larger purse of the same style.
