Louis Vuitton ‘Since 1854’ Collection Pricing & Photos (Fall/Winter 2020)

Louis Vuitton ‘Since 1854’ Collection Pricing & Photos (Fall/Winter 2020)

Nicolas Ghesquière, Louis Vuitton creative director since 2013, has always managed to interlock the House’s heritage with futuristic designs in the best way possible. This time he goes to the roots of the fashion house (Louis Vuitton was founded in 1854, thus the collection’s name) and introduces the Fall/Winter 2020 ‘Since 1954’ collection honoring the House’s rich legacy.

The Fall 2020 collection delighted the Louis Vuitton fans with a refined twist on multiple classic motifs. All the beloved silhouettes such as Keepall, Speedy, Pochette Metis are reinvented in khaki/bordeau jacquard with a repeating series of concave diamonds, the symmetrical loops of the “8” becoming their own sort of petals. This motif creates a hypnotizing effect which you can’t resist.

Here are the items that’ll be released in the ‘Since 1854’ Fall/Winter 2020 collection:

  • Louis Vuitton Speedy 25
  • Louis Vuitton Onthego GM
  • Louis Vuitton Neverfull
  • Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis
  • Louis Vuitton Petit Noe
  • Louis Vuitton Dauphine
  • Louis Vuitton Petite Malle
  • Louis Vuitton Deauville
  • A couple of trunks

The collection was already presented during Paris Fashion Week, and we expect this collection to be in the boutiques worldwide come fall.

Do You Need a ‘Since 1854’ Piece?

Let’s face it: even though the collection offers some wearable pieces, a handbag from this new 2020 Fall/Winter collection is not something that you’ll be taking out every day. The ‘Since 1854’ line reminded us of Louis Vuitton Denim and Mini Lin pieces as this new collection’s core material is fabric. If you don’t have a 100+-piece handbag collection, then the downside of a fabric item is that fabric is easily stained and at some point you’ll have to dry-clean the item.

Another problem with Mini Lin and Denim collections is that once the material has rubs on corners, it can’t be repaired. I mean how do you repair denim once it has rubs or holes? Patch doesn’t seem to be the best option on an expensive French fashion house’s item. The jacquard line seems vulnerable to this kind of rubs too.

Here is how to safely clean your Louis Vuitton bag at home if you own a piece crafted from canvas or one of Louis Vuitton leathers.

Moreover, as this is another limited edition, the prices will be higher than for regular pieces so think twice before falling in love with ‘Since 1854’.

However, if you’ve already fallen in love with this collection and that’s something that makes your heart sing, go for it!
