The inspiration behind the Fall Winter 2015 Monogram Totem Collection came from the Louis Vuitton archives: Gaston Vuitton was an avid collector of African tribal masks. All masks collected during his travels were displayed at the Colonial Exposition of 1931 in Paris.
This collector’s edition of the Speedy fuses the timeless chic of Monogram with bright embellishments: engraved studs, eyelets and small chiseled leather patches creating lucky totems. The bag’s Toron handles are mounted on finely worked motifs of ethnic inspiration, bringing a playful pop of color and exotic flair to a Louis Vuitton classic.
The ethnic symbols are reinterpreted in vivid colors. This collection is a fusion of mask exoticism and Monogram classicism.
