On June 24, 2021, the new Louis Vuitton Men’s Spring Summer 2022 Collection was presented live. The collection was announced and streamed on the brand’s official Instagram account. What Is Louis Vuitton Men’s Spring Summer 2022 Collection?

The heroes of the new collection of the French House are modern samurais. One can definitely feel that the collection was greatly influenced by the Japanese martial art of kendo. The ideological inspiration came from intellectual futurism, the struggle of the future, present, and past. 

The collection includes variations of kimonos, classic and sports suits, with strict silhouettes, but in bright colors. Monochrome suits are complemented by top hats, berets or baseball caps, giant gloves, and sneakers from a collaboration with Nike. The creative director Virgil  Abloh remained faithful to Louis Vuitton’s checkered pattern, black-and-white, as well as gray-and-white motif can be seen on suits, jackets, and coats. The idea of the collection, according to Abloh, is in the transmission of changes from generation to generation, tracing parallels in the cultural context.

Louis Vuitton Amen Break Film

The new Louis Vuitton men’s collection was presented in a film that was called Amen Break. The title of the 16-minute video refers to the famous drum sample, which influenced hip-hop and became the basis for such genres of electronic music as drum and bass. According to Abloh, the video reflects a historical moment in the art and culture of the black community, when electronic music and hip-hop were born and got spread all over the world. Amen Break tells the story of a father and his son, united by an unknown loss, who go through a dream world to deliver a message to the other side.

The most memorable scenery in the video presentation was an artificial birch forest; but the key place of action should be considered a copy of the dojo – a hall for practicing Japanese kendo fencing. There, according to the plot, a chess tournament between the rapper GZA and the artist and writer Candice Williams takes place, and the Japanese fencers fight with bamboo swords. Obviously, Abloh continues to be interested in the confrontation between classical and sports culture in the men’s wardrobe, as well as the fluidity of fashion. The designer decisively mixes the wardrobe of a raver and an office clerk, puts dresses and pink fur coats on models. The main theme of the show was the question of who really copies whom and who is really the innovator in history. 

Louis Vuitton Men’s Spring Summer 2022 Collection: Bags, Trunks, Vanity Cases, Backpacks

First of all, numerous monogram accessories were spotted, which indicates that monogram canvas is not going anywhere, though there is a shortage of Louis Vuitton Canvas items at the moment.

Did anyone expect to see an oval trunk, and even with light green handles? And here it is! The collection also features an even bigger model in fluorescent ombre.

A new version backpack in Monogram. It looks a bit like the Louis Vuitton Trio backpack, but it seems roomier thanks to bigger side compartments. There is also a variation in gold.

A new vanity case with a handle is presented in several versions in the new collection - in bold colors and in classic Monogram.

Rigid trunks of square and rectangular shapes with a comfortable handle like a suitcase.

There is even a backpack in the form of a trunk in bright, eye-catching yellow that will definitely turn heads.

The collection also features a huge, almost hiking backpack in fluorescent green.

The bags received special praise. They have never been so versatile and at the same time extravagant. Many people noted that they liked all the looks and there was nothing superfluous.
