‘Dentelle’ means lace in French. This Louis Vuitton Dentelle print was introduced in Spring Summer 2007 Collection and transports us to the golden ballrooms of the XVII century in France. Lace was huge at these times. As lace production required a lot of time and personal skill, lace was very expensive and only the royals and aristocrats could afford it. Worn as a sign of prestige and wealth, it decorated many garments and accessories, and it was among the most valuable of a households’ possessions.
Thus, these Dentelle items were designed to make our dream to become a princess come true. Silver or gold delicate lurex lace is embroidered on the canvas, and part of it is painted. The Dentelle series has a different type of vachetta: dyed vachetta leather to give it a rich caramel color to give it the look of aged leather.
This Dentelle Speedy is also firmer so it keeps the original shape a bit better than Speedy Monogram. It was released only in size 30.
