After successful collaborations with the late Stephen Sprouse and Takashi Murakami, Marc Jacobs pays tribute to the exceptional artist for whom he has great admiration, Yayoi Kusama. This collection was released with an eye toward the Japanese market, one of the largest Louis Vuitton markets.
Kusama, known for her polka dotty patterns, was the first female artist that Louis Vuitton collaborated with. The collection was released when she was 82 years old.
In this collection, Louis Vuitton’s iconic Monogram canvas pieces are reinterpreted and covered in Kusama’s dots forming bright and vivacious playful patterns. The pattern for the Speedy bag is called Monogram Town.
Apart from the Kusama’s pattern, this is a traditional Speedy with cowhide rolled leather top handles and trim with brass hardware. The top zipper opens to a fabric interior.
