Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis Reference Guide

Louis Vuitton Metis was originally released in 2012 and since then it's been all over Instagram and fancy magazines. Celebrities, influencers and bloggers are still sharing their Pochette Metis looks with the bag thrown over their shoulders while boutiques are saying that it's out of stock.

What's the secret to the success of the bag?

Pochette Metis was introduced in 2012 in Monogram canvas. Contrary to a popular belief that it was always sold out, it wasn't a hit until a couple of years after. In 2014 it suddenly became so popular that it was always impossible to order online and long queues of boutique visitors had to leave empty-handed.

In 2017 Louis Vuitton reconsidered the popularity of the bag and released it in several more canvases: Infrarouge, Reverse, Epi and Empreinte.

Pochette Metis in Empreinte leather was released in 4 new colors:

  • Rose Ballerine (powder pink)
  • Marine Rouge (navy with red glazing)
  • Noir (black)
  • Scarlet (red)

In 2018 the world saw another version of an iconic bag, a Pochette Metis with braided handle. The bag was basically the same with the top handle in a different design.

In 2019 Louis Vuitton released a new version of the Monogram Pochette Metis. It looks exactly like the previous one but it's crafted of a thicker canvas. The change of canvas was related to many issues with the previous version. Louis Vuitton also expanded the range of Empreinte colors to Cherry Berry (deep red) and Beige Rose Cream.

However, none of the newer versions became as popular as the original Pochette Metis in Monogram Canvas. Currently, fashionistas all over the world are still on the hunt for Mono and Reverse Pochette Metis editions.

As unique as it seems, this Reverse Pochette Metis can't be called a limited edition. It's been in production for several years and it's still available though hard to find.

This edition is one of the most popular as it's iconic monogram combined with black leather, so it's practical and fashionable at the same time. Every Louis Vuitton fan will definitely appreciate this rare beauty.

Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis Monogram Infrarouge (2016-2017)

2016 witnessed the release of Pochette Metis in the black-and-red Infrarouge pattern with green olive interior. This Infrarouge Pochette Metis edition was a smashing hit, it was hard to find and a lot of people were desperate to find it.

Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis Epi (2017)

Released in 2 sizes, mini and regular, this Pochette Metis limited editions failed to be commercially successful. No one wanted it. We feel like Epi bags in general are less popular than canvas just because they're not that recognizable. This limited edition was introduced in several colors (blue with reverse handle, black-and-white epi and colorful epi) and featured a chain instead of a full strap.

Louis Vuitton Masters Collection Pochette Metis (2017)

Masters collection also offered several Pochette Metis Editions, like Turner and Monet. The bags were beautiful however the collection was a bit controversial and faced a lot of mixed feedback. This Masters Metis limited edition is good as a masterpiece in your room but when it comes to creating s stylish look, it's not that versatile as a Monogram version of the purse.

Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis Love Lock (2018)

A more playful version of the Pochette Metis with hearts, keys and locks was released in 2018.
