On June 25, 2021, as part of the Men’s Fashion Week in Paris, Dior showed its Dior Men’s Summer 2022 Collection. For the first time since the coronavirus pandemic, the show was attended by the public. The show has become one of the significant events of this summer, the collection itself, as well as the location, amazed everyone. Let’s take a closer look at what happened that day.
Dior Men’s Summer 2022 Runway Show
The show took place at the National Residence of the Invalids in Paris. The stage was a sandy canyon of Texas, decorated with a buffalo head, giant cacti, roses, and mushrooms. Gradually, the desert turned into a rose garden, reminding Christian Dior’s home in Granville – a quiet corner dearest to his heart: there, surrounded by flowers and next to his mother Madeleine, the future couturier, fascinated by the beauty of nature, broadened his knowledge of botany.
Cactus Jack Dior: Kim Jones & Travis Scott Collaboration
Creative director Kim Jones brought in rapper Travis Scott to create a new summer collection. It is Texas that unites the rapper and Dior; Scott grew up in the southern state, where Christian Dior brought his debut collection in 1947.
Texas also influenced the palette of the collaboration: these were shades of brown, gray, and purple that seemed to have faded in the sun. This unprecedented collaboration is the first full-fledged Dior collection ever created with the participation of a musician. The updated “pixel” monogram for sweaters and knitted vests was invented by Travis Scott himself. He also drew cartoon characters, which became the basis for prints and embroidery.
What is Dior Men’s Summer 2022 Collection?
The new Dior Men’s collection seems to unite two quite different worlds that greatly complement each other. In the set design of the show, gigantic cacti and fake canyons framing the podium is a reference to the rapper’s native state – Texas, and three-meter white roses and garden gates – to the avid florist Christian Dior.
This duality can also be seen in the clothes themselves: elegant classic silhouettes and a restrained palette remain with the heritage of Dior, and bold techniques, bright blocks, and love of freedom – for a simple Texan guy Travis, who also worked fruitfully on the brand’s logo (having redrawn it), changed the Oblique monogram and the traditional look of the Saddle bag. The palette of the collection echoed the desert landscape – pink from delicate to deep dark purple, brown, shades of ocher and dusty aquamarine, and total black. In turn, Kim Jones showed us the perfect tailoring with flared silhouettes and kindly gave full freedom to his creative partner.

Here is a new model of a backpack in different versions. Here you can see the prints that are featured in the entire collection:
1) brown with beige, a triangle in the form of letter D;
2) new Jack print, exclusive to the collection;
3) white python.
The backpack is very roomy, there are several compartments inside, plus three side pockets. Decorative vertical straps give the backpacks a somewhat casual, relaxed look.
New backpack and totes made of interesting knitted canvas. The textured pattern in pastel colors is eye-catching. The original texture of the canvas makes you stand out from the crowd.
A new tote bag that keeps the shape and has a large internal compartment and extremely cute pockets on the front. The white color perfectly emphasizes the unique style of the bag.
The collection features a lot of mini belt bags that Dior suggests wearing even on the arm.
In general, many mini bags of different shapes and colors were presented at the show – for bottles, round, square. In dusty and bright colors, they perfectly complement any look.
The collection features several variants. This one is in python.
Some variants of the iconic Saddle bag were presented. Original prints in classic colors. This, by the way, is a variant of the Saddle belt bag.

But, of course, the most talked about bag is the new interpretation of the Saddle bag by Travis Scott. The bag is in the shape of a saddle, the same reference to the Texas cowboy. The bags are presented in plain classic brown and black colors. The handle of the bag is made of steel, in the form of a horseshoe.
Dior Men’s Summer 2022 Collection: First Reactions
The new collection was warmly accepted by the audience. The grandiose show created by the fashion house aroused great public interest. Let’s quote some viewers’ feedback: “Beautiful chaos,” “The collection is really amazing!” “I went crazy,” “Bravo,” “It takes my breath away”. Everyone, without exception, liked the backdrop of the show.
Many men said that they would wear everything in this collection. Even the girls admitted that they would buy something from the collection for themselves.
In the comments, fans confessed their love for Dior. “We are fans of your art,” they wrote. One follower compared the show to a famous fairy tale, commenting, “It’s so dreamlike like Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” Someone is ready to spend all their money on a collection, “If I have a lot of money, I will wear all those clothes and bags.”
