Louis Vuitton x Urs Fischer Collection: Louis Vuitton Monogram Reimagined Again

Louis Vuitton x Urs Fischer Collection: Louis Vuitton Monogram Reimagined Again

Every Louis Vuitton bag is a true legend. Bags by this famous brand have cult status. They are worn for decades and passed down from generation to generation – just as legends have been passed down by word of mouth for centuries. What is the most signature thing that makes you understand you have a Louis Vuitton purse in front of you? No doubt, it is the famous LV monogram that got reimagined again this year in Louis Vuitton x Urs Fischer Collection.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Reimagined Again

Over the past 120 years, the LV monogram has been modified only 4 times. In 1896, Louis Vuitton's son Georges Vuitton created a monogram with his father's initials, which was very difficult to copy.

In 2001, as a result of the collaboration of the House designer Marc Jacobs with the American artist Stephen Sprouse, the fashionable monogram Graffiti appeared.

In 2003 Jacobs and artist Takashi Murakami created a monogram in color, and the famous Multicolor line saw the light. Here is more on Louis Vuitton Multicolore Monogram Collection: Your Guide to One of the Most Iconic Louis Vuitton Prints

In the autumn-winter 2016 collection, a new color variation of the monogram was presented (Eclipse) - in black and gray.

How has the LV monogram been reimagined now?

Last year, the French fashion house Louis Vuitton collaborated with contemporary Swiss artist Urs Fischer to update the brand's monogram. Fischer is known for his sculptures and visual works that distort the original appearance of art objects.

The Swiss artist was given the task of completely rethinking the font of the brand's logo, while remaining true to the spirit of Louis Vuitton.

The artist reinterpreted the monogram of the French brand and created its art version: the letters L and V and the flower sign got increased proportions and blurred edges, while the pattern remains recognizable.

The Louis Vuitton x Urs Fischer collection is an update of the brand's signature floral motif and LV initials in black-and-red and black-and-white. The collection with the LV monogram reimagined includes leather goods, clothing, shoes and accessories. The new pattern has been placed on T-shirts, dresses, sports pants, jackets, sneakers, and, of course, handbags.

Here are the bag styles available in Louis Vuitton x Urs Fischer collection with prices from the official LV website:

The bags with the LV monogram reimagined look especially bright thanks to the tuffetage technique, which involves the use of a velvety material to create additional texture.

Will the Louis Vuitton x Urs Fischer Collaboration Be Successful?

The Louis Vuitton x Urs Fischer collection has been greeted with enthusiasm by connoisseurs. The Swiss artist has managed to add a touch of extravagance and playfulness to classic bag models, and create fashionable exclusive items that will attract any fashionista.

Will the new collection with the LV Monogram reimagined become as successful as collaborations with Takashi Murakami or Richard Prince? We'll have to wait and see. As for me, this creative bright line looks very promising. What do you think? Do you like the new Louis Vuitton x Urs Fischer Collaboration? Would you like to get an item from it?
